Giving - All members are asked to make an estimate of giving or pledge each year. While there is no set amount, a "tithe" or 10% giving figure was practiced extensively in the Old Testament and is a figure that we encourage all members to move toward as a way to grow in faith and love. On Sunday morning, an important part of our worship is the giving of our tithe and offerings, when with joy we return thanks to God.
Funerals - It is part of the pastor's responsibility to conduct funerals and memorial services for church members. Persons, whether a member or not, may contact the pastor, and request pastoral care, counseling, and services.
Local Outreach
Harvesters - We go to Harvesters several times a year to sort and box food to be distributed to the needy throughout the metropolitan area.
Cross Lines Food Pantry - We help support the Cross-Lines food pantry by bringing non perishable food to the altar on Communion Sunday. It is then delivered to Cross-Lines by church members.
Cross-Lines Christmas Store - We prepare for this event in cooperation with several area churches by shopping for bargains all year round, helping with set-up and assisting shoppers who choose clothes for their families the first week in December.
Vegetable Garden - The Church Garden- Several tons of produce have been grown and taken to local soup kitchens in the last eleven years.
Wilhelmina Gill Center Food Kitchen - We join another area church in providing and serving a hot meal three times a year to this kitchen in Kansas City KS where over 300 are fed daily.
Manor Care Nursing Home - We lead a worship service at this nursing home once a month.
IHN-Interfaith Hospitality Network of Johnson County - Indian Heights UMC is a support church for IHN. We assist Grace Covenant as they host homeless families four weeks a year by providing , serving and hosting dinner, helping with clean-up and enjoying playing with the children of these guest families.
Local Environment - We are a "Green" church. We have established several practices to care for God's creation by conserving energy and resources at church and at home.
Mission Ministry
Guatemala Mission Trip - Our pastor leads a annual mission team to remote villages to help build churches, kitchen stoves in homes and meet other needs. They enjoy connecting, worshiping, and breaking bread with the Guatemalan people and interacting with the children.

Youth Mission Trip - The youth of Indian Heights take a mission trip each year. Some years we travel many miles, while other years we serve directly in our community. Short term mission trips are yet another great way to provide Christian discipleship.
